Seeing Eggs

A fellow beekeeper from the downtown Portland club, PUB, loaned me this Head Strap Magnifier he had purchased at Harbor Freight.  He said it helped him see eggs in the comb.  I was skeptical because I had tried a number of  things to improve my ability to see eggs: strong reading glasses, lights, positioning the light from the sun.  All help a little.  But this magnifier, which does fit under my veil, helped a lot.  The first comb I looked at was alive with eggs.  If anybody is interested, it is item #38896 from Harbor Freight.  It is called a Head Strap Magnifier With Lights.  It cost less than $10.  Amazon has a large selection of these magnifiers.  But you pay a little more.  Here's a reference to a YouTube video that discusses the item.
