I use a Lorob unit that vaporizes the acid outside the colony, rather than a hot iron that is pushed inside the box. This has numerous advantages, no damage to the bees, no hot iron inside the hive. Not limited or affected by any hive configuration, only the tip of the nozzle enters the box.

Treat now to protect your colony from the Varroa mite, have a healthy colony for an early start next spring. Don't avoid treatment due to high equipment costs.....
