To early for a Split?

Hello, I have a hive that wintered over and is packed full of bees. My question, is it to early to split them?

    Thank you for the advice!

Hi Scott. This was touched on last night at the meeting.  Best to wait until it is warmer so you can look and see if you have queen cells, and if yes, then you can find queen and keep her in one box and transfer the queen and hopefully drone cells to the new hive. Looks like we are going to have nice weather next Wednesday, and we are planning to inspect and hopefully split our hive.

Scott, you can give them another box to work on until the weather warms enough for a queen to be able to fly and mate (high 60s to 70s).
