Small Hive Beetle?

A little research and suggestion from a friend tells me that this may be rare in Oregon and I should confirm. I have only found a few small beetles, and I assume these could be Small hive beetle. Any look alike or advice on the best way to confirm? I did save a couple specimens. Should I contact OSU?

I also have found one or two on the sticky board from one hive this year, but no sign of them or larvae on the frames. I'm not too concerned right now, so not doing anything about it. My hives are strong and up off the ground, which I hear are two important deterrents.

I get them bad, any frame with pollen or pollen patty left unattended will get infested.  In town in Cornelius.

So, Yes hive beetles are here in Oregon. They don't seem to do well enough to bother the bees, but as soon as the bees are weak or gone, they move in. The larvae will quickly devastate a frame. Hives that do not receive adequate sunshine will likely have beetle trouble.

There is an anti-larval Bacillus Thuringiensis substrain Aizawai ABTS-1857, that has minimal toxicity for bees that works on moth larvae. I believe this will also attack the beetle larvae. So you can store frames, sunlight quickly breaks down the bacteria to neutralize.
