Bees will regulate the brood nest internal temperature between 93 and 95 degrees,  regardless of the outside temperature.

    Thanks Debby,

The club meetings are a highlight of the month for me. There is so much great information that gets discussed. As a first year beekeeper You and the other officers of the club have my thanks. Unfortunately I’m in the process of packing and moving and just completely forgot about the meeting last night. I hope it was recorded. And thanks for the link. I appreciate Randy’s data driven approach.
    Thanks!

    Hi Carter,

This is a fairly new info arena, and I'm not sure if any in the club are experts, If you can attend Tuesday's meeting, perhaps Dr. Caron could be asked the question.

In the meanwhile, I really enjoy Randy Oliver's experiments, and can direct you here for some info: http://scientificbeekeeping.com/a-test-of-thermal-treatment-for-varroa-part-1/

Since elevating the hive temperature is one method of killing the Varroa, are the current extremes we are experiencing enough to actually be beneficial to the hives? I’m not using screened bottom boards and had seen only one mite in a previous alcohol test of my two hives. I’m curious what folks using the screened bottom boards may experience in this heat.
