Bees sometimes need to be coaxed into building on foundation.

I melt bees wax and roll a fresh coat of wax on the foundation before i give it to the bees.

Acceptance of foundation is greatly improved by this method.

I added a second deep after my nuc expanded in the lower brood box. These were 10, foundation frames, no comb. The bees have filled the bottom well, but upon expanding into the second deep, they have built comb between about 4 frames instead of drawing it out uniformly across the frame.  I’ve researched the “why” this might have happened, but I’m stuck with what to do?  I am considering harvesting these frames, scraping them down, and putting them back in hopes that they will draw them out better. It might mean the bees going in to the fall with the second deep being an empty rehab project. There’s one other drawn out nicely with capped honey, and the other 5 still just foundation. Is it too late in the season for me to remove these 4 frames and make them start over? Other ideas?
