Up at 5:30 to do club bees. It was great to rub elbows and get some, face to face, in-real-life time with other members.

Zoom meetings and speakers have their place, but there is no substitute for face time. I MISS IT. I'd volunteer my yard if a location is needed.

We dished out ~150 nuc's in just a couple of hours. It was great seeing all the excited bee farmers get their bees and begin their season.

There was an extra nuc, and I took it so I could have a resource hive. I set them up in a nice spot, let them fly, and they were bringing in lots of pollen in less than one hour.

I'm winding down from a long day seasoning some ribs to smoke for sunday dinner, 7:20p the phone rings SWARM! 10:30p back home from Newburg and my second new colony of the day will get to spend the night in my warm van, instead of hanging on a locust bush in 30° weather. I used a screen board with bee escapes, I hope I put it on the right way or I may have to vacuum bees out of my van!

Yesterday I had one weak colony, today I have 3 (2.5)! Be careful of what you wish for, when it rains it pours! Glad I have out yards already arranged. Looks like they will get put to use right away.

The season is starting with a bang! Even though the weather is not cooperating.

I hope everyone else had a great bee day!

It takes a village...and it was a nippy but exhilarating nuc delivery morning for sure!

TVBA is so grateful for all of our volunteers and experts. It was great to meet you in person finally,  Rick!

And we do have our tech experts on the TVBA board working toward getting us ready for in-person/hybrid meetings. Fingers crossed for our May meeting!

Collected the 4th swarm this season this evening, at the same house as last Sat(?)

Hive inspection on my problem child colony I found beetles and larve in the pollen patty. Yes we have some kind of hive beetles here, don't put in a large patty and don't leave it in if they are not taking it. I put in a small patty but they are still not queenright so not taking it.....

I've collected 7 swarms now. Kept 3, so I'm up to 5 colonies until this AM

A new addition to the Just Bees Apiarys

    A Groot Hive......

Snagged a Queen off CL and she will go in whatever I find queen less tomorrow or I'll start #7. I don't want to wait on them to make a queen, get her mated, and a 75% chance of return 30 whatever days farther into the season.

It's only been 2 weeks I may have to grab the E-brake or start moving established hives off to out yards.

My nuc might be ready for a another box tomorrow as well.

I noticed today on the way back from picking up the queen, a couple hundred acres of alfalfa just on the other side of council creek 1/4 mile from me, i think that is good forage.  I need more mediums!
