Up at 5:30 to do club bees. It was great to rub elbows and get some, face to face, in-real-life time with other members.
Zoom meetings and speakers have their place, but there is no substitute for face time. I MISS IT. I'd volunteer my yard if a location is needed.
We dished out ~150 nuc's in just a couple of hours. It was great seeing all the excited bee farmers get their bees and begin their season.
There was an extra nuc, and I took it so I could have a resource hive. I set them up in a nice spot, let them fly, and they were bringing in lots of pollen in less than one hour.
I'm winding down from a long day seasoning some ribs to smoke for sunday dinner, 7:20p the phone rings SWARM! 10:30p back home from Newburg and my second new colony of the day will get to spend the night in my warm van, instead of hanging on a locust bush in 30° weather. I used a screen board with bee escapes, I hope I put it on the right way or I may have to vacuum bees out of my van!
Yesterday I had one weak colony, today I have 3 (2.5)! Be careful of what you wish for, when it rains it pours! Glad I have out yards already arranged. Looks like they will get put to use right away.
The season is starting with a bang! Even though the weather is not cooperating.
I hope everyone else had a great bee day!
